How I work

Therapeutic approaches

My approach is integrative. Rather than fitting you to a single method, I shape the work around you.

Integrative counselling is built on the idea that no single therapeutic model works for everyone. Each person brings a different history, a different way of making sense of the world, and different needs from the counselling space. By training across several approaches, I can offer something genuinely tailored rather than asking you to fit a predetermined format.

The foundation of my practice is person-centred: the relationship between counsellor and client is central, and you are the expert on your own life. Within that, I draw on other approaches depending on what’s most useful.

Approaches I draw on

Person-centred

Warmth, genuine understanding and unconditional positive regard — the foundation of everything I do.

Psychodynamic

Exploring how past experiences and unconscious patterns shape present difficulties.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Identifying and challenging thought patterns that maintain anxiety, low mood and unhelpful behaviour.

Solution-Focused

Systemic & attachment-based

Working with relationship patterns and attachment, adapted for couples seen together.
